I started to write music to express my feelings and thoughts. I didn't really know how to write music. Actually I didn't even understand what music truly was until I listened to "When I'm Gone" by my role model Eminem. I started to study Eminem, 2Pac, Busta Rhymes in the beginning trying to "copy" what they have been doing for years now. Then I started to study the new generation artists such as Hopsin, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Pryde, and Vi Seconds. Then I realized I'm not much of a rapping type so I started to sing and now people tell me my music sounds like Bryson Tiller and Pryde.
Many wonder why I chose the name December for music. Usually, people just think I chose December because that's when my birthday is in which is true but I decided to use it because it is the most important month for me. Why? It's because that is when I knew that my mother had a stage 2 stomach cancer. As a kid I really didn't know how to react to it and to be honest I didn't even realize how big of a problem this was. When I heard my mother had cancer, that made me strive for music even more. I wanted to write songs about it, I wanted to express how I feel now and also how I felt. It gave me even more motivation to do music and do what I love to do.
Enough about how I started doing music and about my name. Currently I am signed to a small music label called Autumn Music Group and also Raw Talent Entertainment. I got the chance to perform in New York and that led me to connections and with those connections, I got signed to Autumn Music Group. A very small music label located in New York but I am very excited and happy that I am currently working with them. Raw Talent Entertainment is an another small label located in my hometown State College, Pennsylvania. Currently having artists from State College also, like CHYT and Capitol L, makes me feel even more at home.
I have learned a lot from my experiences so far from performing, shooting music videos, and managing. Performing for Pryde in New York gave me a once in a life time experience. To be up on a stage with a sold out crowd and singing my songs was unbelievable and especially to do it for one of my favorite artist was even better. I would love to perform again anywhere. Managing Meechi Blanco and Cecil Blutcher gave me knowledge how to distribute music, advertise, and find shows but I have a lot more to learn. Managing really helped me in my own music though. It taught me what works and what doesn't work well for advertisements and I even learned how to get my songs on iTunes, Spotify, and etc.
Although, I am a college student right now, I believe I can make it big with my music. Music is the path I am willing to go towards and nothing will stop me. Using the experiences I have from managing, shooting music videos, recording and performing I will be doing tours. Just give me few more years.
